Communities That Have it All

If you’re dreaming of an all-inclusive living experience by the coast, your wish is my command. Let me introduce you to some of North Carolina’s micro communities with amenities ranging from pools to golf courses to views of the water. With a wide range of options and price ranges, one of these neighborhoods could be your next home…Let's dive in!

Riverlights

Spend two minutes on the Riverlights website (https://www.riverlightsliving.com/) and you’ll be ready to pack your bags! This New Hanover community is located on the Cape Fear River and boasts 1,400 acres of coastal bliss. The development, which opened in 2016, has communities which range from single-family homes, townhomes, custom builds, 55+, and more. Marina Village, their town square, is full of shops, restaurants and a super cute wine and craft beer spot. Once you take a stroll along the water, it’s easy to see why so many people fall in love with Riverlights. Now let’s talk about amenities. According to their website, this community is home to, “a zero entry, outdoor saltwater pool, fitness center, yoga studio, kitchen space, billiard room, media center, oversized outdoor fire pit and more. It overlooks our 38- acre lake where we canoe, kayak and paddle board. Looped by a 3.1-mile paved path for jogging, strolling, dog walking and bike riding and plenty of green spaces to roam, connect to a 7-mile nature trail throughout the community. In our next phase we will introduce a dog park and a children's playground.” …Ok, WOW. Currently, prices at Riverlights range from around $360,000 to $1.8 million.

Landfall

Want the security of a gated community, the freedoms of a nature preserve and the ability to drive down the street to the neighborhood golf course? Then Landfall (https://www.landfall.org/) may be the place for you! Born in 1987, Landfall is now an established controlled-access community of 2,200 acres and approximately 2,000 homesites. The community maintains an extensive infrastructure of roads, trails, parks, sports facilities, and postal stations, with the Country Club of Landfall at its center. Homes and homesites are dispersed amid golf courses, lakes, ponds, creeks, conservation areas, and the Intracoastal Waterway, and offer a wide variety of home styles,” according to the website. Behind this family-friendly property’s gates, you’ll arrive in paradise. On the premises, you’ll find nature trails, a playground, basketball and volleyball courts, soccer and baseball fields, a park and a lake. Landfall is located in the New Hanover school district and UNC Wilmington is only about five miles from the development.

Compass Pointe

You know when you go on vacation and just don’t want to leave? Well now you don’t have to with Compass Pointe (https://www.compasspointenc.com/).  This 55+, resort-style community will have your jaw on the floor once you see their lazy river and golf club. Located in Leland, Brunswick County, the build has been named “Happiest Community” and “Best Community in North Carolina,” among other accolades. Amenities here include indoor and outdoor pools, a golf club, tennis and pickleball courts, walking and biking trails, a wellness center and even a dog park! Their website states, “Our residents come together to organize community clubs, activities, and events for the enjoyment of all in the community. That sense of community and active lifestyle is additionally inspired by our developer, Bobby Harrelson, whose vision for the perfect gated community in Southeastern North Carolina has flourished.” If you’re looking to retire on the coast, Compass Pointe can certainly be the place for you!

Brunswick Forest

Pick your favorite recreational activity and chances are, Brunswick Forest (https://brunswickforest.com/) has it. This massive 4,500 acre community will leave you speechless with all it has to offer. The signature statement here is “Coastal by Nature,” a phrase that permeates throughout the homes on this property. Amenities include walking trails, a fitness center, an award winning golf course, swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, a lake, and its own 160 acre town, The Villages at Brunswick Forest. The website states, “The relaxed nature of Brunswick Forest’s design is borne out in tree-lined streets, sidewalks and trails, pocket parks and common gathering spaces. Amenities are luxurious yet comfortable and carefully sited around the community with easy access for all residents.”  The homes here range from simple to extravagant, with prices ranging from around $350,000 into the millions.

If you weren’t considering a housing community like these before, I hope these options opened your eyes to this awesome and unique opportunity! While I understand these homes aren’t for everyone, having built-in amenities can certainly be a major perk.
