Afternoon Work In The Yard
It’s almost 2pm on an absolutely glorious fall day and I just got home after a productive morning of work. I decided to come sit out in the backyard to get a few more things done on my computer [since my computer was actually fully charged, yayay] and decide to post up in the back corner near the pony’s hay shed. It’s usually super shady because of the huge Willow Oak and some other big trees but since the leaves have started falling off there is some magical dapples of light popping through, giving me just enough warmth in order to not get cold but still keeping it shady enough to see my screen. I’m still barefoot despite the chill because being barefoot in the backyard is honestly one of my favorite things ever. It’s also a kind of a mental relaxation for me since the first thing I like to do when I get home is to take my shoes off and get some comfy clothes on. Raleigh is laying in the sun trying to catch a bug buzzing around him, Memphis is running around the bases of trees trying to find and catch whatever wildlife he can and the ponies are standing around their little hay cover int heir corral munching. A male cardinal is posted above them in the trees chirping for a mate and I watch a few yellow moths flutter around the yard, catching my eye when the sun hits them. The sound of the cool breeze rustles the branches creating the best and most relaxing sound to keep my mind focused but not overwhelmed. By this time, Raleigh has wandered over to lay next to me like he usually does and sploots his leggies out trying to get comfy. I cleaned out the shed yesterday and decided to just put up some Christmas decor early so it’s all laid out on the hammocks, airing the dust out and ready for me to put up! After my Grandma and Grandpa passed, we cleaned out their house before selling and I inherited a lot of her Christmas decor. I hadn’t had a use for it yet but all these extra wreaths, garlands and ribbon will help me to really decorate the pony fencing and corral so cute! The backyard is where I spend most of my time so am really excited to extend the festive season; or rather keep some of it up year round…because why not!
